What is Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can improve eyes that look sagging and tired. For men, there are many different causes of heavy eyelids— not just a lack of sleep. As men get older, the structures of the eye develop laxity, and the normal fat pads underneath can protrude or sag. Additionally, the brow can begin to fall with age and gravity, causing sagging eyebrows that contribute to the overall heaviness of the lids. This can create an overall tired look with droopy upper lids and bags under the eyes. Fortunately, Dr. Timothy Janiga performs rejuvenating upper and lower eyelid lifts for men. Because men have unique facial structures, Dr. Janiga performs eyelid surgery for men with the goal of maintaining a masculine and youthful look.
The Procedure
Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin and folds, giving the eyelids a more youthful and awake appearance. Sagging skin on the brow and upper eyelids can often impair vision and cause men to look older or more tired than they really feel.
Lower eyelid surgery repositions and tightens lower eyelid tissues and removes fat pockets that cause bags under the eyes. Additionally, it can reduce wrinkles and excess tissue to smooth the skin around the eye for a brighter, more youthful look.
Upper and lower eyelid lifts can be performed alone or together with other procedures like the facelift, mini facelift, or browlift. Even with eyelid surgery alone, men often emerge looking more youthful and energized after sagging fat pads have been removed. Eyelid surgery helps rejuvenate your overall facial appearance to remove years from your facial profile and help you look as young as you feel.

Recovery & Results
Most men need between five and 14 days away from work, but this can depend on the physical nature of your job. Generally, you can return to desk work within a few days, but should give yourself longer to recover if you work a physical job. Dr. Janiga will determine when it’s appropriate to return to work during your follow-up appointment. Results emerge between eight and twelve weeks and last for years.
