The Procedure

Dr. Timothy Janiga performs fat grafting for men in our Reno office for smaller areas or as an outpatient surgical procedure using general anesthesia when performed with larger procedures such as a facelift. Once an area of the body has been selected and prepared for donation, the fat is removed through a tiny port site using liposuction. After collection, the fat is processed for transfer and is then loaded into syringes to be injected into the treatment area in small amounts until your desired results are attained.

Procedure times vary, although fat transfer for men generally takes between two and three hours. Generally, you can return home after your procedure.

Dr. Janiga recommends fat transfer for men as young as their mid-30s for certain areas that begin showing signs of natural aging and volume loss or due to certain medications or conditions that cause loss of fat. However, it can be an effective anti-aging treatment for men into their 70s. With the right approach and techniques, fat transfer can restore youthful volume and diminish signs of aging.

Swelling and bruising can last up to two weeks, with most men being able to return to work within that time— although this can vary based on the physical nature of your job.
