Gummy Bear Implants
There are plenty of different kinds of breast implants, and Dr. Timothy Janiga helps patients determine which products are best for their cosmetic goals. The most recent technological development in the field has been the FDA approval of “Gummy Bear” implants, which gets its name from the iconic candy — like gummy bears themselves, these implants are stable and retain their round shape or tear drop shape. Technically, they’re high-strength silicone implants with a unique structure: their strong exterior reduces the chance of rupture relative to other implants, but are still soft to the touch.
The Procedure
Dr. Janiga performs the procedure in an outpatient surgery center in the Reno area with general anesthesia. As with most breast implants, the surgery involves an incision under the crease of the breast, toward the armpit, or around the bottom of the areola. Dr. Janiga helps the patient choose which incision type is best for their body shape, the types of implants he’ll use, and the patient’s cosmetic goals. The procedure itself takes about an hour, with an hour or two of recovery time before the patient can return home.

Recovery & Results
As with most surgical procedures, there is some downtime associated with the breast augmentation procedure. Patients can often return to work within a week, depending on their line of work. Swelling and bruising will last for a few weeks; full results are expected within three months.
