What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) will lift and augment the buttocks using fat transfer. Fat transfer or fat grafting offers a natural surgery approach to buttock or breast augmentation. This is a more natural approach to buttock implants, giving patients the advantage of natural-looking results and less risk of complications. It is a surgical procedure that creates a rounder, more toned, and lifted buttocks region while at the same time removing unwanted fat from other areas of the body.
The Procedure
Patients with good skin elasticity (little to no excess skin) and overall good health are the best candidates for this procedure. The Brazilian butt lift procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. First, Dr. Timothy Janiga will remove fat from one area of the body using liposuction. Fat is usually sourced from the hips, stomach, or thighs, which further enhances the results of this body contouring procedure. A small incision will be made to remove excess fat from the targeted area.
The harvested fat cells are then purified and prepared for injection. The injected fat is inserted into the desired area through small port sites to create a fuller, rounder, and lifted buttocks. It will be injected into a few different areas for proportionate buttock enhancement.

Recovery & Results
After a Brazilian butt lift, patients will have a few stitches at each port site and will wear compression garments for a few weeks afterward. Swelling is expected and will last for several weeks. Patients should avoid sitting on their buttocks for two weeks after fat transfer to the buttocks and should try to sleep on their sides or stomachs during this initial healing period. This will help reduce swelling and aid in a quicker recovery.
Most patients can resume normal activities, including strenuous activity, after 4-6 weeks, under the direction of Dr. Janiga. Final results and your new shape are visible at about three to four months after the surgery.
