There are a lot of reasons to undergo breast augmentation surgery. From women who are naturally small-breasted to those seeking to restore breast size and shape after pregnancy or significant weight loss, Janiga MDs offers plenty of cosmetic surgery options to help you realize your full, ideal body.
What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast enhancement is a category of procedures that includes saline or silicone breast implants or a breast lift with implants. Options also include the type, size, and material of breast implants, the incision pattern, and the placement depth of your implants. All these factors depend on things like your anatomy and natural breast tissue, your desired enhancement degree, and whether you’re better suited for silicone implants or saline breast implants.
Types of Breast Augmentation
At JanigaMDs, we proudly offer the 3-D imaging software Vectra®, which allows you to “virtually try on” your size and shape implant. Before Dr. Janiga meets with you, his staff will image your body with the software. During your consultation, you can use the software to “try on” different-sized implants on your body’s 3-D image. This takes the guesswork out of sizing and lets you feel comfortable choosing your size and shape.
No matter which option you choose, our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Timothy Janiga, can help you find the most natural-looking breast implant surgery technique and implants that are right for your figure. Saline and silicone gel implants have benefits and drawbacks for certain body types. Although the inframammary incision (beneath the breast fold) is the most common technique, other incision options are available if you can benefit from them. Common breast implants include:
Round Breast Implants
Round implants provide a full appearance and more pronounced cleavage. Because they are spherical, they can move or shift under the skin without changing the outward appearance of the breast. They are usually preferred by those who desire more lift, volume, or fullness overall. Round implants come in different projections and Dr. Janiga will help you decide if high or moderate projection on your implants is best for you.
Silicone Gel Implants
Silicone implants are filled with a cohesive gel that mimics the feel of natural breast tissue. These implants generally last 10-15 years, though can last longer. Patients 22 years or older can be good candidates for silicone implants.
Saline Breast Implants
Saline implants are much less common than silicone implants and are filled with a sterile saltwater solution after being inserted, allowing for smaller incisions. They can be used to help achieve more natural-looking breasts. Those 18 years old can be good candidates for saline implants.

Meet Your Specialists
Before Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
During your consultation, Dr. Janiga will review your medical history, recommend any necessary tests, and provide personalized pre-operative instructions. To support healing, you’ll need to avoid certain medications and supplements, stop smoking several weeks prior, and maintain a healthy diet.
Plan ahead by arranging for someone to drive you home and stay with you for 24–48 hours. Set up a comfortable recovery area with essentials like pillows, medications, and loose clothing. You’ll also receive instructions for the night before surgery; Dr. Janiga and his team will address any questions to help you feel fully prepared for your procedure.
Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
Dr. Janiga performs breast augmentation with or without a lift in his outpatient surgery center, Mountain West Surgical Center. Breast augmentations are a common surgical procedure for women who wish to improve their physique.
Depending on your anatomy and desired results, implant insertion will be placed beneath the breast tissue (subglandular) or the chest muscle (submuscular). Breast augmentation incisions use techniques to minimize visible scarring, such as in the inframammary fold, around the areola, or in the armpit. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia; patients can typically return home the same day.
After Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentation patients should not lift more than 20 pounds for up to 6 weeks following their surgery, and depending on the implant location, they should be careful of stretching their arms or chest muscles too much during the recovery period. Other restrictions will be discussed with Dr. Janiga and his staff during your personalized consultation appointment. Following your aftercare instructions will help you achieve the best outcomes.
What to Expect After Breast Augmentation
It’s normal to expect some swelling and bruising for up to three weeks after breast surgery. You can expect to return to work within five to seven days, sometimes longer if you have a physically intense job. Full results are expected within three months. Once you’ve healed, you’ll see fuller breasts with a very natural and proportionate look for your body.
