What is Restylane® Defyne?
Restylane® Defyne is a hyaluronic dermal filler created to replenish volume loss and reduce moderate lines. Created with Galderma’s XpresHAn technology, the hyaluronic acid particles are cross-linked, providing flexibility and smoothness throughout your facial features. This filler can be used to treat nasolabial folds and deep laugh lines that run from the corners of the nose to the mouth, smooth marionette lines, which run from the corners of the mouth to the chin, address moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds, enhance your facial expressions, and provide rejuvenation in the lower face.
Who is a Candidate?
Individuals 21 years and older who have mild to moderate wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth can often benefit from Restylane® Defyne. Ideal candidates will be in good health overall. Women who are breastfeeding or are pregnant should postpone receiving these injections to avoid complications. A consultation with Dr. Jennifer Janiga or her associates can help to determine if Restylane treatments are right for you.
The Procedure
Prior to your injection, a topical anesthetic can be applied, though it often isn’t necessary, as Restylane® Defyne contains lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic. Then, a fine-gauge needle will perform a series of injections into the treatment area(s). The treatment is quick, usually only taking about 15-30 minutes to complete, depending on the number of treatment areas.
Results & Recovery
Patients may experience mild swelling and bruising following treatment, which will resolve with time. It is recommended that patients refrain from exercise for 24 hours following treatment to maintain results. The appearance of your skin will remain youthful from Restylane® Defyne for to 12 months.
