Q: How is Daxxify different from Botox?

While Daxxify, Xeomin, Juveau, Dysport and Botox are all injectable botulinum toxin A treatments, Daxxify includes a peptide in the formula and is vegan unlike its counterparts. It is FDA-approved to last 5 months in about 50% of people, compared to the FDA approval of around 3 months for Botox and the others. Daxxify is currently only FDA-approved for frown lines (although it can be used for off-label purposes like other neuromodulators), while Botox is FDA-approved for many types of fine lines and wrinkles as it has been around the longest. Daxxify is also shown to start working sooner than its competitors.

Q: How long do the results of Daxxify last?

The results of Daxxify typically last 4-6 months. How long your individual results last can depend on your metabolism and your body’s response to treatment. Daxxify tends to last longer than other neuromodulators due to its unique peptide formula.

Q: Is there anything I should do after Daxxify injections?

After Daxxify, you’ll want to avoid touching or rubbing the treatment area and skip strenuous activities. You’ll need to avoid facial massages or other types of pressure to the face for a few hours after injections. Make sure to follow your provider’s aftercare instructions and observe any side effects to ensure optimal results.

What is Daxxify®?

Daxxify® is an injectable neuromodulator that received FDA-approval in 2022 for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines (glabellar lines). At Janiga MDs, we use Daxxify in Reno, NV to help patients soften lines, prevent new lines from forming, and revive a more youthful appearance. Daxxify works to inhibit muscle contraction, as it is a botulinum toxin type A like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. The neurotoxin temporarily blocks nerve signals to the treated facial muscles. This minimizes the overactive and unwanted facial expressions that cause dynamic wrinkles.

Daxxify is a long-lasting frown line treatment powered by a novel peptide. This product can last up to twice as long as alternative neuromodulators Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau. Most other neuromodulators are FDA approved to last up to 3-4 months, with no more than four treatments a year required to maintain your desired results. Daxxify is unique and more than half of patients only need two treatments a year to maintain results.

Neuromodulators require an ingredient to stabilize the botulinum toxin A, the active ingredient that smooths fine lines and wrinkles. Daxxify is unique among other products because it uses a novel peptide as a stabilizer instead of human or animal byproducts, like human serum albumin. This novel peptide-powered frown line treatment creates long-lasting results that turn back the clock on the aging process.

The Procedure

Since the Daxxify is a minimally invasive treatment process, anesthesia is not required. The procedure will involve cleaning the injection sites and gentle insertion of the injection in your desired treatment area to smooth frown lines or other types of fine wrinkles. The entire treatment length typically takes between 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Daxxify injections can be used alone or in combination with dermal fillers to address deeper wrinkles and facial folds.

Results & Recovery

Immediately after your treatment, you can resume your daily activities without missing work, but we do ask you to refrain from aggressive exercise, applying pressure to your face, or having a facial massage for the first few hours afterward. You can notice healthy skin free from wrinkles within the following two days after your Daxxify treatment.

Results last an average of six months but have been proven to last up to nine months in clinical trials, depending on your body. Before your Daxxify appointment, our staff will carefully review all information and expectations with you.
