The Procedure
CoolSculpting® Elite is a non-invasive procedure performed in our Reno offices and takes about 35-45 minutes for each targeted area to complete.
Before the procedure, the team at Janiga MDs works with patients to map out the areas where CoolSculpting® Elite would be most beneficial for you. The third-generation vacuum applicator is then applied to deliver controlled cooling for approximately 35 to 45 minutes. Often, patients can relax, choose to read, or check emails during their procedure.

How can I see my results faster?
Results from CoolSculpting are seen as quickly as 3 weeks but full results often take up to 3 months. There is not a way to make this happen faster as it takes time for your body to break down the fat cells and dispose of them. If you have a time sensitive event then you should plan your CoolSculpting treatments to be completed 60-90 days prior to that event to see your full result.
Is it normal to itch after treatment?
Itching is one of the side effects that can occur for a few days to a week after treatment. Don’t be alarmed – this is a normal occurrence. If itching or redness persists beyond a couple of weeks, consult with your treatment provider.
How much water should I drink after my procedure?
A good baseline for men is to drink between 8-10 eight ounce glasses of water per day, but if you’re physically active or regularly consume caffeinated drinks like soda or coffee, you should plan to drink at least one glass of water for every caffeinated beverage you have in addition to the normal 8-10.
What areas should I use CoolSculpting on?
For men, CoolSculpting is usually performed on the torso – the chest, abdomen, and back. It can, however, also be used on arms and thighs, and has now been cleared by the FDA to use under the chin which is a very popular area for men to sculpt the jawline.
Can I consume alcohol after treatment?
You’re welcome to have a glass of wine or beer within 24 hours following your procedure, but we do advise that you keep it to a minimum for the 3 days following treatment.
Does CoolSculpting Elite cause bruising?
CoolSculpting® Elite does not commonly cause bruising. Bruising is, however, a potential side effect of treatment, as are redness and numbness.
Are CoolSculpting Elite results permanent?
CoolSculpting results are permanent as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle consisting of diet and exercise after treatment. The treated fat cells cannot grow back but excess fat in the surrounding tissue can accumulate with weight gain.
Does CoolSculpting Elite hurt?
CoolSculpting® Elite is a comfortable procedure for many patients. Very rarely some people have more discomfort but the cooling provides a natural numbing effect, and the suction is gentle.
How long does it take to see results from CoolSculpting Elite?
Depending on your specific treatment plan, you can start to see results from CoolSculpting® Elite within three weeks of your treatment session after the dead fat cells are metabolized.
Does CoolSculpting Elite work on a double chin?

How long do you stay numb after CoolSculpting Elite?
Side effects like numbness dissipate gradually, most is gone within a few hours of the procedure, but some cases can have numbness for a few weeks.
What should you not do before CoolSculpting Elite?
Before your appointment, avoid any medications or supplements that could thin the blood, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, omega-3s, Excedrin, and fish oil. This can increase the chance of bruising. If you are prescribed these medications for a medical problem by your provider please discuss with Dr. Janiga and associates to make a specific plan for you.
Should I drink water after my treatment?
It is advised that you stay hydrated prior to and following treatment. Hydration can assist in the healing process, as well as help you feel better post-procedure.
What areas can I use CoolSculpting Elite on?
The most common treatment areas of the abdomen, back, and thighs, but CoolSculpting® Elite can also be used on the arms, under the chin, an other areas also. The best treatment for you varies depending on your needs, so it’s best to have a consult to know what’s best for you.
How do I know how many treatments I will need?
It’s hard to know for sure exactly how many treatments you will need, but each treatment does reduce the fat pad treated by 25% and the area can be treated more than once if you would like more reduction. Full results are usually seen at 90 days, but retreatment can occur as soon as 60 days if desired.
