What is BOTOX® for men?
Call it BOTOX® or call it “Brotox.” Either way, this has become the most common non-surgical procedure in men. BOTOX® is a muscle inhibitor that helps patients achieve a more youthful look by limiting certain facial movements that lead to wrinkles. It reduces lines on the face, including crow’s feet, frown lines and neck bands.
Safe, effective and approved by the FDA, BOTOX® is in the same family as Dysport®. Both injectables last up to four months.
What’s different with BOTOX® for men?
Because of their generally larger frames, men may require between 25 percent to 50 percent more BOTOX® in a single treatment than women.
The Procedure
The procedure requires no anesthesia. Simple local injections are made and the procedure takes no more than 15 minutes. Men are cleared to return to work after the injections and can return to exercising four hours afterward.
Comparing Injectables
There are four main types of neuromodulators: Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, and Xeomin®.
At Janiga MDs, Dr. Timothy Janiga specializes in plastic surgery and Dr. Jennifer Janiga specializes in dermatology, giving their practice a unique, comprehensive perspective on their patients’ cosmetic needs in the Reno, Nevada area.
Results & Recovery
Men are often concerned that BOTOX® will result in a “frozen” or a more feminine look. The team at Janiga MDs understands how to retain a masculine look with this injectable. Men typically have eyebrows that are flatter and don’t arch as much as women. We, at Janiga MDs, take extra care to preserve the natural shape of the male eyebrows. As with other neuromodulators, the more consistent you are with your treatments, the more effective the treatments will be.
