Each year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports which procedures are the most popular. Dr. Timothy Janiga offers some of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures available, with each of the top five surgeries represented.
Breast Augmentation
Year after year, breast augmentations are the most common cosmetic surgery. The procedure has remained in the number one spot since 2006 and is only growing in popularity.
Breast augmentation increases the size of the breasts using either saline or silicone implants. Using minimal incisions, Dr. Janiga places the chosen implant either under the muscle or breast gland.
While breast augmentation remains popular, breast reduction surgery has also increased in popularity over the past year. Those with large breasts may choose this surgery to relieve pain or to achieve a more proportionate figure.
Liposuction
Liposuction is another top-five procedure. It is frequently combined with other procedures to achieve desired results, but can also be performed alone to contour and shape different areas of the body like the abdomen, thighs, and love handles.
Other body contouring procedures also utilize liposuction to remove unwanted fat with or before removing excess skin. These include arm lifts, also known as brachioplasty, abdominoplasty, or lower body lifts.
Nose Surgery
Nose reshaping surgeries are the third most popular category. Commonly referred to as a “nose job,” these surgeries can be for cosmetic or medical purposes.
