Top Five Anti-Aging Procedures That Pack Big Bang for Your Buck
Many times, I hear patients assume they can’t afford anti-aging treatments with a dermatologist. The truth is, there are a wide variety of anti-aging treatments that provide big results for a wallet-friendly cost. After all, results are the goal with any cosmetic treatment, so making sure you’re happy with your investment is a must. Here are my top five treatments that I recommend if you’re looking to get the most out of your anti-aging treatment costs.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels can run about $125 – $750, depending on which depth you choose. By exfoliating the top layers of the skin with a chemical solution made from concentrated active ingredients, your fine lines, sunspots, scarring, and pore appearance can be improved with just a single treatment – although you can opt for a package of treatments for best results and a lower cost. Chemical peels can also facilitate more effective penetration of other products such as retinoids, growth factors, and antioxidants to boost your at-home skincare in between sessions.
Neuromodulators
Injectable treatments cost about $$300-600 per session and are usually priced according to the number of units needed for your intended results. Botox® or a similar injectables like Dysport® or Jeuveau® are safe, affordable, simple, and fast in-office treatments that reduce or even eliminate wrinkles and fine lines. The most common concerns treated by these treatments are forehead lines and crow’s feet, and they can last between three and four months. The average cost of treating typical crow’s feet is between $200-$400, while lines between the eyes usually cost about $200-$300. More extensive forehead wrinkles can cost between $300-$500.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal filler treatments cost between $525 – $800 per syringe and is similarly priced according to the number of vials needed. Juvéderm® and Restylane® are two brand name dermal fillers which, like other injectable cosmetic products, are quickly and safely administered in office. These treatments are also cost effective, delivering big bang for the buck with results that can last up to a couple years. These products are generally used to fill in lines, reduce the laxity of the skin, and add natural-looking volume in areas like nasolabial folds, cheeks, mouth, lips, and chin.
Dermaplaning
This inexpensive skin procedure costs about $100 and provides the benefits of physical exfoliation as well as removal of fine hairs or peach fuzz on the face. It’s generally used in tandem with another procedures like lasers or chemical peels, but it can be an effective standalone treatment if you simply want a boost for your skin. It can also help your skin more effectively absorb skincare products at home as it removes the “dead” top layer of skin.
IPL
This option can cost about $500 – $750, depending on your treatment package. IPL stands for intense pulsed light and is a laser system designed to treat visible blood vessels as well as red spots and brown spots associated with sun damage. Most patients see a marked improvement in their skin’s appearance with just one to two treatments. Each IPL session takes about 30-45 minutes and there’s little downtime needed afterward. IPL is an effective way to achieve clear skin when unwanted pigmentation doesn’t respond to at-home methods.
