How to Prepare for CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive procedure and does not require extensive preparation or recovery. However, there are several things you can do to maximize your results and make your experience run as smoothly as possible.
Dress Comfortably
Arrive in soft, loose-fitting, comfortable clothes to wear after the treatment. You will also want to wear cotton washable undergarments as they may get some gel used during your CoolSculpting® treatment on them.
Eat a Light Meal or Snack
We recommend that you eat prior to your treatment. A light meal and good hydration before your appointment is prudent. Each CoolSculpting® cycle usually takes about an hour from start to finish, so you will also want to limit caffeine prior to your appointment time, as your bathroom breaks will come in between treatments.
Bring Something To Do
You will be sitting during your treatment cycles for about 45 minutes each time. At JanigaMDs we have Netflix available on a large TV in the CoolSculpting® room but if you prefer to bring a book, magazine, or movie on your own tablet or phone you are welcome to do so.
Maintain a Healthy Weight
CoolSculpting® is a procedure for targeted reshaping and contouring the body. It is not a weight-loss procedure. Your body should be healthy and within five to ten pounds of your goal weight before you receive the treatment.
Avoid Blood Thinners
Blood-thinning medications will increase the bruising you experience from CoolSculpting®. Please inform JanigaMDs about all prescription medications that you are taking including prescription blood thinners so we can help guide you through the procedure. If you are taking over the counter blood thinning medications that are not prescribed by a doctor such as Aspirin, Advil, Excedrin, Vitamin E, fish oil, omega 3’s, or Ibuprofen please avoid taking these for 7 days prior to the procedure. Tylenol/acetaminophen is an over the counter pain reliever that does not thin the blood. You may resume all over the counter products after your procedure is finished.
Avoid Smoking
You should avoid smoking during the month before your CoolSculpting® treatment, as it can delay your healing process and increase the time it takes to see your results.
Take Care of Your Skin
A sunburn or any type of skin injury, such as a cut or bruise in the treatment areas, can make the treatment more uncomfortable for you and if you have any open sores could possibly cause it your treatment to be postponed. We recommend that you avoid excess sun exposure, protect your skin from injuries, and take care of your skin before your treatment.
