Couple’s Plastic Surgery: Sharing Recovery and Results
Couples share many things from their homes to parenting responsibilities to enjoying vacations together, but a new trend is emerging: having plastic surgery together. It may sound surprising, but there are some benefits to scheduling a plastic surgery procedure at the same time as your partner. Here are some of the reasons why you may consider couple’s plastic surgery.
Why Plan to Have Plastic Surgery with Your Partner?
The main reason why couples choose to have plastic surgery at the same time is so that each partner can achieve their cosmetic goal and the couple can take time off together for their recovery. While each patient will need a support person to drive them home or care for them for the first day or so after their surgery, many couples find that they can easily support one another and care for each other in the later stages of their recovery periods. Couples may treat their joint recovery period as a “staycation” while they relax and heal from their surgeries. Couples may feel that they can better understand one another and enjoy the support of their partner as they recover together.
Plastic Surgery Trends for Men
A common misconception regarding couples having plastic surgery is that men do not choose plastic surgery at all. While a majority of patients are women, more and more men choose plastic surgery each year. The most common plastic surgery procedures for men are typically rhinoplasty, liposuction, eyelid surgery, facelift, and male breast reduction (also known as gynecomastia surgery.) Men also choose non-surgical procedures such as Botox. With an increasing number of men choosing plastic surgery, the rate of couples each choosing cosmetic procedures increases as well.
Planning Couple’s Plastic Surgery
If two people are interested in having plastic surgery together, it is usually advised to schedule the surgeries a few days apart. This gives each partner time to support the other through the initial 24-48 hours after surgery while still going through much of their recovery process together. When it comes to your consultation, some couples choose to attend a consultation together, while others schedule separately—this depends on your personal preferences and the recommendation of your plastic surgeon. Even if you do not have your consultation appointment with Dr. Timothy Janiga together, many couples still enjoy the support of going through the process together.
