At Janiga MDs, giving back is important to us. This includes both national charitable organizations and local community projects. We choose to support the following organizations and encourage our patients to learn about them and do the same if they can.
Period Project
The Period Project fights stigma surrounding menstruation and serves people in need by donating and distributing pads and tampons to underprivileged schools, shelters and other resource centers.
Susan G. Komen More than Pink Walk Reno
The More than Pink Walk is held annually in cities across the nation, including Reno. The event raises money for Susan G. Komen Nevada, which funds research, diagnosis and care, community support, and advocacy for breast cancer. Janiga MDs sponsors a team to walk in this event every year.
For Kids Foundation
The For Kids Foundation is the charitable arm of Kids Behavioral Health, and provides residential and day treatment programs as well as other needed services to troubled youth. For Kids Foundation serves children in northern Nevada. Janiga MDs donates items to their silent auction at their Annual Wine & Cheese Fundraiser.
Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows
The Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows serves local youth through two Clubhouses and four Early Learning Centers, offering affordable after-school programming, transportation, and nutritious meals. Janiga MDs donates auction items to the annual Cioppino feed to help support this valuable cause.
JDRF Nevada
JDRF funds Type 1 Diabetes research, advocacy, and government action. JDRF Nevada raises funds through local charitable events and community organization. Janiga MDs sponsors the JDRF’s annual fundraiser.
Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention
The Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention is an organization dedicated to preventing suicide by connecting mental and physical health professionals, the business community, suicide survivors, and advocates with the goal of increasing knowledge of suicide prevention. Janiga MDs sponsored the high school dodge ball tournament organized to raise awareness among our high school students about suicide and its prevention.
Northern Nevada Cleft Palate Clinic
The Northern Nevada Cleft Palate Clinic is a health care team through the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Nevada in Reno, which is dedicated to treating children born with cleft lip and palate. Dr. Tim Janiga donates his time to this clinic.
Moms on the Run
Moms on the Run provides financial support for everyday expenses for Northern Nevada women diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancer. By providing support for expenses such as mortgages, rent, food, utilities, car insurance, or other necessities, the organization hopes to offset medical expenses and relieve financial stress. Janiga MDs sponsors the annual Western Surgical Group Golf Tournament benefitting Moms on the Run.
Bishop Manogue High School
Bishop Manogue Catholic High School is located in Reno, Nevada and through donations, they offer tuition assistance to over 30% of their students. Janiga MDs sponsors the annual fund raiser for the tuition assistance program.
St. Albert the Great Elementary School
Janiga MDs sponsors the Math Counts program and the annual fundraiser, which is used for various programs such as upgrading equipment or otherwise supporting students.
DONATION DRIVE FOR LOCAL WOMEN & BABY SHELTERS
Janiga MDs held a donation drive for baby supplies to help support the local women and children housed in and supported by women’s shelters around Reno, Nevada, including Step 2, Wanda’s Closet, Women & Children’s Center of the Sierra, and Our Place.
